Your Patient Journey

First Treatment Visit
If you are a new patient to Olive Tree Dental a new patient exam is carried out first to ensure you are dentally fit for the treatment. We carry out a comprehensive assessment of your mouth, and take X-rays and photographs of your teeth, whilst also examining the soft tissues such as your gums and tongue, as well the gland area.

After a thorough full examination of your teeth, we will advise on how extensive your teeth need to be cleaned. We may need to perform treatment to reach plaque and tartar underneath your gum line. We will let you know how many appointments will be necessary to remove this, and to put you back on track with your oral health.

Second Treatment Visit
A deep scale and polish is performed above and below the gum line. A tiny patch called a perio chip may be placed to help reduce the size of the pocket and help to stop the build-up of more harmful biofilm.

You may require follow-up treatment appointments if build up is extensive.

Aftercare
Regular hygienist appointments are recommended to maintain your oral health, and to prevent gum disease from returning.

Before treatment, we will make a full assessment of your symptoms, so that the optimal treatment is identified to suit your needs. It may be that a multidisciplinary approach and on-going treatment is needed to address the disease. We are proud that we offer GBT (Guided biofilm therapy®) at Olive Tree Dental so as part of ongoing maintenance to maintain positive oral health & hygiene we will be recommending this to all our patients. Rest assured, we will get your oral health back to a place where it no longer causes unpleasant symptoms and risks compromising your long-term dental health.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are There Different Forms Of Gum Disease?

The two types of gum disease are:

  • Gingivitis: the first, more minor form of gum disease. This is when the disease begins to cause gum inflammation.
  • Periodontal disease: the advanced, more severe form of gum disease. This is when inflammation spreads to the bone and causes deterioration and tooth loss.

How Do I Know If I Have Gum Disease?

Gum disease is often referred to as a ‘silent’ aggressor, as in many cases, symptoms don’t appear until the condition is severe.

However, some classic symptoms of gum disease include:

  • Bleeding gums.
  • Receding gums (when gums pull away from teeth).
  • Loose teeth.
  • Changes to your bite.

You’ve probably heard dentists repeat the importance of check-ups so many times. This said, it’s worth labouring the point that regular check-ups are the bedrock of making sure plaque and tartar doesn’t make an unwelcome return. We are proud that we offer GBT (Guided biofilm therapy®) at Olive Tree Dental so as part of ongoing maintenance to maintain positive oral health & hygiene we will be recommending this to all our patients.

Are Bleeding Gums Always a Sign Of Gum Disease?

Some common causes of bleeding gums include:

  • Newly flossing your teeth.
  • Using a hard bristled brush.
  • Taking medications that dry out your mouth or which act as blood thinners.
  • A misaligned bite (causing extra pressure is applied to certain parts of the mouth).

I have been going to olive tree dental now, for about a year and a half. The service is always so friendly and they really help you make the best decision when it comes to your teeth. I have had Invisalign treatment with Patricia, which was exceptional. The regular hygienist appointments and general check ups are also very good, and the parking around the dentist is excellent. I would highly recommend going here.read more

From the first step through the door it felt far removed from the standard clinical feel of any dentist I had been to previously. Not only are the offices beautifully decorated and the staff welcoming and friendly but the resulting impression from my first appointment was one of confidence instead of fear. Dr Zyada was very thorough in her checks and took the time to go through each and every tooth to explain exactly what needed to be done and why. It makes the return appointment a lot less daunting, thank you. Would definitely recommend Olive Tree Dental.read more

The team at Olive Tree Dental are great! My dentist was very thorough and took the time to patiently explain her findings and what would be required for future visits. Like most people I don't enjoy going to the dentist, but the team made it as comfortable as possible. The rooms were really clean too!read more

Olive Tree Dental are a fantastic dental practice. All of their staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I was given an appointment here with Smile White UK teeth whitening and the dentist was lovely! She was great at advising me in detail how to use the teeth whitening for my teeth, as they are particularly sensitive. I would definitely recommend them.read more

I went to Olive Tree Dental Clinic few times for teeth cleaning, emergency dental work and consultations. The clinic was very clean and inviting, stuff was very friendly and dentist was very gentle and reassuring. I appreciated the fact that she was communicating with me during the procedures so I wasn’t wondering what’s going on or when it will finish. I’ve been to quite a few dental clinics previously but never felt as valued and welcomed, and never got such high quality dental service. Highly recommend it to anyone and especially to those who feel nervous and anxious when visiting dentist. I feel lucky to live nearby!read more
