Second Treatment Visit
An example of what type of electrosurgical procedure might be required is Crown Lengthening. For the purpose of this patient journey example, this is what your patient journey would look like if this was the treatment needed.
The tooth is prepared for the crown. The area is numbed with local anaesthetic to ensure you’re completely comfortable throughout. The decay is removed, and the tooth is shaped so as to receive the crown. Before your tooth is scanned electrosurgery is performed to ensure crown lengthening is achieved. The electrosurgery procedure is performed with precision, adhering to safety protocols.
A digital scan is then taken to the laboratory, who can produce a made-to-measure crown. A temporary crown is placed whilst you wait for the final result. This is usually a 7-14 day period, which allows for the healing process to take place, ensuring that when the crown is fitted at a later date, the area has stabilised.
Subsequent visits may be needed depending on the nature of which electrosurgical procedure is required.
Third Treatment Visit
Your tooth is numbed with anaesthetic and the temporary crown is removed. Once the area has been cleaned, the crown is placed over the top, and its fit is reviewed. Once you and your dentist are happy with the fit, the crown is cemented in place with a strong adhesive.
Aftercare
We recommend avoiding hot food and drink whilst your tooth is still numb. Clear post operative instructions are provided, including advice on pain management, oral hygiene, and follow-up care. We monitor healing progress and address any concerns to ensure optimal results.
If anything doesn’t feel quite right in the days after treatment, please let us know.
