Mica knew early on that her passions extended beyond reaching the peak of her nursing career as clinical lead, and she pursued the next step in her career by studying to become a dental hygienist, qualifying with a BSc with honours.
Having thoroughly enjoyed her time as a nurse previously, Mica felt she could utilise many elements of her clinical knowledge as a nurse to further enhance her skills as a Dental Hygienist. What Mica enjoys the most about her role is listening to her patients take on board her advice about oral hygiene and return for subsequent appointments, having implemented significant changes in their daily routine, which result in healthier teeth & gums – this gives her a wonderful sense of fulfilment.
Mica also enjoys delivering bite-size, digestible pieces of information, which not only educate patients about the importance of oral health and how periodontal disease links to other health conditions but also assist them in making small changes that last
long-term.
In her spare time, Mica looks forward to travelling whenever she gets the opportunity to explore the world. She also loves attending music concerts and festivals. She looks forward to spending quality time with family, especially long walks on a Sunday with her partner and dog, followed by a roast dinner (she hasn’t had to cook herself).
